Joseph A. Mele, MD, FACS, graduated with high honors in electrical and computer engineering from the University of California, Davis (UC Davis). He was then awarded the Regents Scholarship to attend UC Davis School of Medicine. Dr. Mele subsequently completed a surgical internship at UC Davis Medical Center, a residency in general surgery at San Joaquin Francis Memorial Hospital and a fellowship at Saint Francis Memorial Hospital in San Francisco, where he received intense postgraduate training in general plastic surgery, microsurgery, burn care and rehabilitation, hand surgery and birth defect repairs.
Dr. Mele has written a number of articles on plastic surgery that have been published in peer-reviewed medical publications. He has also presented research at several prominent medical conferences nationally and regionally.
